Who are we hiring?
The Manager Commercial will assist the Commercial Lead with the commercial management and delivery of Sphere projects across the Sphere portfolio. This role is responsible for driving best-in-class commercial practices, procurement strategies, contract management, and supply chain performance to support the successful delivery of world-class entertainment venues globally.
The Commercial Lead will partner closely with internal leadership, project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with business objectives, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading the commercial management of large-scale construction projects within complex international environments.
What will you do?
- Assist and contribute to the Optimization of existing systems and processes to drive improvement in Subcontractor payment application reviews and assist with implementation of new systems and processes.
- Support Project Monthly Cost Reporting ensuring accurate recording of information and forecast cost to complete.
- Support Commercial Lead with interface with any 3rd Party fund monitoring agents, ensuring Sphere compliance with reporting and relevant notices.
- Support change management process, ensure compliance with Corporate and Department Policy and Procedures.
- Support Commercial Lead and VP Procurement and the Construction Management Team the Procurement, contract management and closeout of all Subcontractors and sub tier suppliers for the project.
- Monitor supply chain and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure proper onboarding and education of contractors on the time and materials approach to the project.
- Provide support and guidance to contractors to ensure that monthly payment applications are submitted with required tangible evidence to adequately document costs in accordance with their construction agreement.
- Support monthly payment applications for adherence to contract terms, including reimbursable cost of work definitions and required compliance items, and process for payment.
- Work with contractors to resolve, in a timely manner, not validated costs included in payment applications.
- Review contractor costs against approved contract and change orders issued.
- Proactively identify issues, including critically analyzing contractor cost trends against plan in support of progress and productivity reporting.
- Mentor and support team members, contributing to capability development and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment
- Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What you need to succeed:
- 5+ years of experience in the commercial management of large MEP based installations.
- Bachelor’s degree or commiserate work experience/certifications.
- Experience managing complex procurement processes, subcontract administration, and commercial negotiations
- Strong knowledge of commercial management principles, contract law, procurement strategies, and supply chain management
- Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasting, cost controls, change management, and financial reporting across major projects
- Experience working within complex, fast-paced, and multinational project environments
- Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders across multiple business functions
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing commercial policies, processes, and operational improvements
- Proficiency with commercial management systems, project controls platforms, and reporting tools
- Principles, methods and practices related to commercial management
Special requirements of the job:
- Flexibility to regularly work across time zones of all Sphere locations and offices
- Travel may be required to other Sphere locations based off business need
