Who are we hiring?

MSG Ventures is looking for a Development Platform Engineer to bridge the software-hardware boundary and design the next generation development rigs and system architecture for our teams to support large scale rendering, playtests, prototypes, tools, and QA testing efforts. As part of a small team of industry veterans, alongside our industry partners, you will play an integral role in researching, designing, and prototyping hardware and software for integration into our game platform for live events with thousands of concurrent players at MSG Sphere. In addition to deep and broad computer and networking hardware expertise, the ideal candidate will bring a passion for pushing the limits of current technology while ensuring maintainability and reliability of our development platforms.

What will you do? 

  • Collaborate closely with the Software teams to research, design, prototype, and provide development rig solutions, tools, and systems engineering support for real-time interactive experiences that can scale to thousands of simultaneous players. 
  • Guide the selection, budgets, proposals, and prototypes of novel integrations and device interfaces using cutting edge hardware to steer roadmaps towards venue integration. 
  • Determine facilities impact and provide on-site development rig technical support for Interactive playtests, tech demos, and proofs of concepts. 
  • Partner with IT to bring these development rigs to life while ensuring adherence to company policies and procurement practices. 
  • Partner with our software teams, QA, venue tech, and other departments to spec out and integrate our development rigs both in house and at remote testing facilities. 
  • Manage an ecosystem to maintain a fleet of +200 Meta Quest VR headsets using MDM. 
  • Design solutions and tools for testing and scaling our software capabilities through automation scripts and software services. 
  • Research, communicate technical needs, and support proofs of concepts with various partners and vendors. 
  • Write technical documentation and clearly communicate complex solutions and challenges, even to non-technical staff. 
  • Stay current on relevant technology and conduct necessary research, due diligence, prototyping, and testing to assess emerging technology options. 
  • Attend and report in daily scrums and bi-weekly sprint planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives in accordance with Agile best practices. 

What do you need to succeed? 

  • Computer / Electrical Engineering BS, MS or PhD degree preferred or equivalent experience 
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, hardware platform engineering, or related role 
  • Experience with software and hardware development lifecycles is required. 
  • Extensive experience designing development rigs for live event installations is required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of GPU, CPU, Display (LED, LCD, etc.), Storage, and Networking hardware is required. 
  • Experience designing proposals for custom hardware parts and working with 3rd party manufacturers and suppliers is required.  
  • Experience with A/V signal flow design using broadcast and IP-based technologies which require tight synchronization is required. 
  • Experience designing development platforms for real-time / generative 3D engines is required 
  • Experience designing networks with a focus on high-bandwidth applications including low-latency, high-resolution video transmission is required.  
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, including power distribution, load calculations, etc. is highly preferred.  
  • Experience managing and deploying to cloud services or data centers is a plus.  
  • Excellent communication skills with team members and members of the public (during playtests and focus groups) is required. 
  • Self-motivated, with little guidance needed, and an ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks for each in an agile manner.

Pay Range
$96,000$160,000 USD
