Workflow Engineer

Who are we hiring?

The Workflow Engineer role will be joining the growing Sphere Studios team Based in Burbank, California. This role will act as a bridge between creative and technology and provide workflow solutions from concept to execution of immersive shows mainly focused on media server workflow. This candidate will work with various departments to make sure creative and technology blend together to create amazing shows.

What will you do?

  • Be involved from the beginning creative discussions through the programming and execution of shows.
  • Work with internal and external creatives to provide technical solutions.
  • Develop streamlined workflows for reviews and shows.
  • Documentation of best practices for workflows.
  • Help define processes and train internal employees on best practices for programming across all our show systems.
  • Work with hardware and software to determine best programming practices.
  • Manage assets from Studios to Venue for show programming.
  • Must be flexible with work hours; this role performs on “Production Time” with the potential for hours taking place outside of the traditional 9-5, including nights, weekend, and holidays.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams on development of show technologies.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of experience in live events production. 
  • Degree in engineering, theatre design, or interactive arts, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience working directly with creatives defining show concepts 
  • Ability to well document processes and train people on those processes 
  • Previous experience as a Playback Operator or similar role. 
  • Live Production or Studio Playback experience. 
  • Experience with large format multi-processor systems is preferred. 
  • Experience with Media Servers such as 7th Sense, disguise, Pixera, Hippo, or Resolume is a must. 
  • Experience with Notch, Unreal, Touch Designer or Unity is a bonus. 
  • Experience with LED Screens and processing systems. 
  • Show Control Programming experience is preferred (Medialon, ISAAC, Node-RED). 
  • Experience working with large file systems and media management. 
  • Experience and working knowledge of codecs and image sequences such as NotchLC, .7th, ProRes, HAP. 
  • Knowledge of video routing systems, broadcast solutions, and AV IT networking. 
  • A confident, professional, and persuasive communication style with senior leaders and team members. 
  • A passion for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking. 
  • Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations.
Pay Range
$96,000$160,000 USD
