VP Technology

The Technology organization at Sphere provides shared capabilities spanning Service Management, Digital Properties, Infrastructure, and Enterprise Business Systems. The Technology organization is driving change to bring closer alignment of our technology work to the services provided and business outcomes. The services from Technology are delivered through a shared capability model and implemented by a strong, talented, diverse set of teammates. Using modern infrastructure, platforms and services, and close alignment with business stakeholders, we focus on aligning business outcomes to the employees that use our services to drive revenue expansion, process efficiency and/or liability management.

The VP Technology is an experienced technology professional responsible for leading technology operations at Sphere in Las Vegas, NV and Sphere Studios in Burbank, CA. The VP Technology must have the ability to leverage multiple solution providers and collaborate effectively with other Technology leaders to accomplish business objectives while ensuring consistency across all technology enterprise functions. The VP Technology oversees all function areas of technology including, venue operations, workplace experience, network operations, wireless infrastructure, and data centers. The VP will be a key partner to the business and is expected to ensure consistency across all enterprise technology functions.

What will you do?

  • Leverage deep expertise in networking technologies to ensure the network in both the MSG Sphere as well as Sphere Studios enables the unique capabilities and demands of Sphere.
  • Lead the technology resources for Sphere, Sphere Studios, and colocation facilities on the west coast.
  • Drive operational excellence within the Sphere Technology team through a highly disciplined focus on process, metrics, and accountability for technology reliability.
  • Ensure the delivery of critical business services and have process for detection of potential risks/outages. This includes technology infrastructure, core systems and applications supporting the business, as well as technology support services.
  • Support our business partners by developing plans to leverage existing or deploy new technologies to help them achieve their key goals and strategies.
  • Ensure the systems and technologies deployed within Sphere are designed and implemented as cohesive end-to-end systems, improving the quality and reliability of the services provided to both internal and external customers.
  • Partner with the Operations team to ensure technology systems in the Sphere are running efficiently and delivering the requisite services to support the world-class events that will be held there.
  • Manage the deployment, operation, and enhancements to wireless services deployed within Sphere and Sphere Studios.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of expertise in network technology and demonstrated success in managing and leading world class technology teams.
  • 10+ years’ experience in customer facing businesses with a strong preference to experience leading technology teams in the sports, entertainment, travel, or hospitality industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or additional experience and industry specific professional certifications.
  • Dynamic leadership skills with ability to establish strong relationships in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work collaborate in a highly transactional, fast paced, matrixed environment with a willingness to dig into the details to get work done.
  • Ability to build a scalable technology organization by attracting, retaining, developing, managing and inspiring teams.
  • Ability to drive forward thinking, technology advancements by working closely with internal technology team leadership and by leveraging industry leading providers.
  • Knowledge of venue technologies such as Point of Sale, IPTV, high density Wi-Fi, DAS, and CCTV amongst others.
  • Experience in effective vendor management that provides MSG with cost effective support that aligns with business needs.

$193,000$285,000 USD
