Who are we hiring?

Sphere Studios is looking for a Director, Production to support and manage content production for events at Sphere venues. Reporting to the VP, Production Lead, the Director is a senior member of the production team that oversees projects across the entire production lifecycle, from creative development to production through final delivery.

The Director will have a focus on physical production management, but the role will also include oversight and leadership of creative ideation, digital content creation, post-production, and visual effects activities. The role is also a key studio point of contact for artists/clients and has the responsibility of ensuring that all productions are developed to achieve creative excellence while being delivered on schedule and on budget. This role will interface cross-divisionally with various Sphere Studios departments and collaborates with other Sphere Entertainment groups such as Live Entertainment, Corporate Sales, Partnerships, Legal, Finance, and Venue Operations.

The ideal candidate has a background in physical production with additional experience in live event production and/or digital content creation. They should have and a deep technical skillset, strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of managing complex productions with multiple stakeholders.

What will you do? 

  • Establish and lead a robust budgeting and scheduling process, from creative concepting through final delivery, including the development of production scope, schedules, estimates, and technical requirements.
  • Schedule regular project meetings internally and with clients to ensure the smooth running of the content creation process.
  • Vet and approve all production-related vendors, crew, and locations in alignment with project needs and budgets
  • Troubleshoot production issues on set and in post to minimize delays, mitigate risks, and maintain quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with post-production, visual effects, and show delivery teams to ensure smooth handoff and efficient workflows
  • Serve as the primary physical production liaison to cross-divisional partners, ensuring seamless communication and alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Participate in contract review and negotiation on behalf of Sphere Studios for content creation on assigned productions.
  • Manage and lead key relationships with the client/artist, serving as a key strategic connection and a primary communications conduit for all production-related matters.
  • Drive departmental efficiency and improve quality by implementing and refining tools, best practices, and production standards.
  • Collaborate regularly with creative, production, and technical teammates, and provide strategic updates to senior management.
  • Oversee and maintain relationships with external vendors, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.

What do you need to succeed?

  • An experienced and proven production leader with the ability to manage multiple innovative, multi-faceted projects, with an established history of delivering on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated experience on complex productions with high-level stakeholders, talent or clients; previous experience as a line producer or studio production executive is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with leading physical production shoots.
  • Experience with large-format, VFX, CG, or 360-degree content creation is a significant plus.
  • Superb organizational skills with the ability to create executive-level presentations, detailed budget summaries, comprehensive production plans, and multi-project timelines.
  • A confident, professional, and persuasive communication style capable of engaging effectively with sphere leaders, creative artists, and internal team members.
  • A passion for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations and adeptly adjust as multiple moving parts consistently change.

Special Requirements 

  • Role will require travel to/ from LA to Las Vegas for client business and logistics meetings along with travel to global production locations for shoots.

Pay Range
$147,000$205,000 USD
