Who are we hiring?
As a Production System Supervisor at Sphere, you'll be hands-on with all production systems, providing cross departmental support for dedicated disciplines such as audio, video, lighting, and control systems. The Production Systems Supervisor will be responsible for upgrading, integrating, and maintaining technologies crucial for daily production operations and a multitude of AV related systems used within Sphere’s venue. You'll bring an strong level of software, mechanical, and electrical knowledge, along with knowledge of show control systems, IT, and computer programming, to troubleshoot and consolidate the technology needed to maintain systems successfully. The supervisor will take a special role in operating, supporting, maintaining, and programming the venue show control system. Enthusiasm for learning new skills, innovation, inventing solutions, pushing technological limits, collaborating with industry partners, and thinking outside the box are essential attributes.
What will you do?
- Ensure reliable operation of atrium activations and supporting software deployed in Sphere.
- Ensure reliable operation of robot hardware and supporting software deployed in Sphere.
- Provide first tier support for both hardware and software related issues and coordinate with appropriate vendors to find solutions.
- Deliver and maintain reliable technical solutions to realize the strategic and creative goals of stakeholders from Venue Operations and Sphere Studios.
- Track bugs and create technical documents on operation and maintenance as they relate to production systems.
- Work closely with the Sphere operations team and robotics program vendors to ensure reliable operation of all equipment during testing and when deployed in the venue.
- Work closely with the Sphere immersive technology team and ISAAC/VCS program vendor to develop and maintain new features for the ISAAC software suite.
- Coordinate installation and strike of atrium activations, moves throughout the building, power and AV integration.
- Some supervision of IATSE union stagehand labor.
- Support internal creative requests from the Sphere marketing team.
- Serve as first line of support for venue show control systems, inclusive of programming new features.
- Additionally provide AV support to production teams as required.
What do you need to succeed?
- Degree in information systems, computer science or theater arts; advanced degree is a plus.
- 5+ years’ experience in AV related systems.
- Hands-on experience with control and AV systems.
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining electrical, mechanical and software systems.
- Knowledge of show control, IT & network infrastructure, audio & display technologies, lighting, LED pixel control.
- Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external companies.
- Experience tracking bugs and making technical documents and manuals.
- Experience defining scopes and deliverables for vendors and tracking vendors and internal team progress.
- Strong desire to work with and identify novel ways to deploy emerging technologies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to bring a creative approach for new ideas.
- Self-motivated in combination with the ability to collaborate with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations.
Special Requirements
- Expected to support live events schedules on site as needed.
- Some travel to Burbank for training as needed.
- Working nights, weekends and some holidays will be required.
- Required to have completed the OSHA 30-Hour training course.
