Sphere And Discovery Children’s Museum Partner For The Second-Annual “Sphere Weekend” To Celebrate A Year Of Wonder With The Wizard Of Oz At Sphere


The Two-Day Experience Will Feature Hands-On Activities Inspired by the Technology, Creativity and Innovation Behind Sphere’s Immersive Reimagining of the Beloved Classic

LAS VEGAS, NV (August 3, 2026) — Sphere Entertainment Co. (NYSE: SPHR) and DISCOVERY Children’s Museum announced today the second-annual “Sphere Weekend,” a two-day family celebration ahead of the first anniversary of The Wizard of Oz at Sphere. Taking place Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, the event will transform DISCOVERY Children’s Museum in downtown Las Vegas with hands-on activities inspired by the creativity, technology and innovation behind Sphere’s immersive reimagining of The Wizard of Oz.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the greater Las Vegas community, Sphere is proud to continue its five-year investment in DISCOVERY’s youth education programs, now entering its second year.”

“Sphere Weekend showcases the power of partnership to bring art, technology, and innovation to life for our community,” said Laura Christian, Interim CEO of DISCOVERY Children’s Museum. “Together, we are inspiring children and families to explore, create, and imagine what’s possible through immersive, future-focused experiences.”

“Sphere Weekend” will be an art and tech-forward family-focused event designed to inspire local children and their families. The experience is open to guests of all ages and is included with general admission to the museum. The experience is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, August 8 and from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, August 9.  Experience highlights include:

  1. Apple Drop Challenge – Engineer a protective device to safely drop an apple from the free-fall drop zone in our tinkering laboratory, inspired by the fun and mischievous apple-throwing trees seen in The Wizard of Oz at Sphere.
  2. Tornado in Oz – Witness the powerful science of tornadoes in action with a live tornado generator demonstration inspired by the twister that whisks Dorothy away to the Land of Oz.
  3. Code the Yellow Brick Road – Use code to guide robots along the Yellow Brick Road and help them reach the Emerald City in this Wizard of Oz robotics adventure!
  4. Artistic Animations – Design digital animations or draw on a 2D coloring page, inspired by the Sphere’s XO Student Design Challenge.
  5. Create Your Own Orbi – Create a fun, take-home version of Sphere’s iconic emoji character!
  6. Drone Exploration – Explore the principles of flight as you pilot a drone through our obstacle course and learn how this technology is used at the Sphere.
